Purpose of Role
To run the Refinery and Ethanol Plants at optimal efficiency and minimum losses, on a shift basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages shift workers to achieve set production targets for white sugar and ethanol at minimum to no loss of production.
- Recommends plant upgrades and changes to plant operations to improve production efficiency.
- Compiles stoppage and fault reports for down time analysis.
- Conducts annual vessel/equipment inspections and recommends off crop work to restore vessel integrity.
- Initiates purchase requisitions and plans availability of chemicals to ensure consistent run of the plant.
- Routinely checks and enforces safe storage and handling of process chemicals.
- Leads in shift SHE risk assessment and compiles annual SHE action plans.
- Participates in department SHE Meetings and huddles.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry/Sugar Technology/Food Science is a requirement.
- A Degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry will be an added advantage.
- At least 5 years working experience as a Process Supervisor in a sugar manufacturing industry.
- Good computer knowledge.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication skills.
