Purpose of Role           

Coordinates the execution of all plans relating to land preparation in accordance with the annual cropping programme and for the maintenance of major Estate, Sections and Central village roads.

 

Key Responsibilities     

  • Coordinates effective and efficient deployment of land preparation machinery and human capital in response to available work.
  • Establishes material quantities for Land Preparation Department infield canals, drainage, machinery, Estate roads maintenance, Section roads maintenance and village roads maintenance budgets.
  • Establishes systems for the supervision of contractors and monitors the performance of contractors e.g., quality of work, material and resources utilisation, productivity rates, SHE compliance etcetera.
  • Collates information needed to carry out new surveys, including surveying requisite instruments, source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and other relevant information.
  • Periodically liaises with Section Managers on field layouts and drainage operations.
  • Implements approved designs of irrigation structures such as canals, dams, pipelines, and siphons.
  • Coordinates safety awareness amongst staff and enforces compliance with safety standards, rules and regulations.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Agricultural Engineering
  • Three years’ experience in the design and implementation of Agricultural, Water Reticulation Systems and Road Construction and Maintenance Work.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in GIS, Morden Engineering survey technics, SAP/CANEPRO business system is a distinct advantage.
  • Clean class four driver’s license
